Marangu Waterfalls, Coffee & Culture
On this tour you will:
- Visit Kinumakori Waterfalls where you can enjoy the impressive views of the surrounding valley and take a dip in the cool water.
- Visit a coffee farm where you can learn the traditional process of preparing coffee from bean to cup.
- Visit the Chagga Cultural Centre where you can explore the rich history of the Chagga people.
- Visit the underground Chagga caves where you can learn more about Chagga history and traditional way of life.
You will be picked-up at your hotel in Moshi in the morning and then drive to Marangu, passing through many eye-catching villages along the way and enjoying the green plantations of bananas, coffee, yams and potatoes on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, you will go on a short but beautiful hike through the lush landscape in direction of Kinumakori Waterfalls. Here you will be able to rest or take a dip in the cool, refreshing water.
Next, we will stop at Bijou Coffee Farm where you will learn how the locals grow, harvest and process the coffee beans and you will even get a chance to roast and prepare your own cup of lovely, fresh coffee. We will then head to a local restaurant for a tasty, traditional Chagga lunch.
Lastly, we will head to Marangu village to visit the Chagga Cultural Centre before heading to the Chagga Underground Caves. Here you will learn more about the fascinating Chagga history and get further insight into traditional Chagga life.
