3-Day Lodge Safari: Taste of Tanzania
Experience the exhilaration of an African wildlife safari while immersed in some of the most spectacular landscapes Tanzania has to offer!
A Tanzanian safari is an experience of a lifetime. Unfortunately, not everyone has enough time for an extended adventure. We have therefore designed this safari package to give you a short but intense taste of what Tanzania has to offer in two of her most amazing national parks.
We will first visit Tarangire National Park, renowned for its large elephant herds and its majestic baobab trees, followed by the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places in Tanzania and home to the Big Five.
A safari fully adaptable to your needs
As with all of our safari packages, this suggested itinerary can be adapted to suit your own personal preferences. Departure dates are also completely flexible.
Accommodation
On this safari, you will spend your two nights in 4-star lodges or tented lodges on the outskirts of the national parks.
Please note however that we have something to offer for every budget, from basic campsites, to mid-range accommodation, to superior and luxury tented camps and lodges.
If you wish to enquire about the price for another accommodation category for this safari package, or if you would like to add any additional visits or experiences to your itinerary (e.g.: a hot air balloon flight over Tarangire National Park) please do not hesitate to contact us.
Itinerary
DAY 1
Arusha or Moshi - Ngorongoro Crater
Activities: Travel to Ngorongoro Crater (4 hrs from Arusha or 6 hrs from Moshi) / Half-day game drive
Meals: Lunch & dinner
Accommodation: Mid-range lodge
Meet your professional tour guide/driver in Arusha or Moshi and receive a short briefing about your safari before hitting the road in direction of the Ngorongoro Crater. We arrive at the lodge in time for lunch and then head out for our first half-day game drive.
Home to the Big Five (elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos), the crater alone boasts a whopping 25,000 animals, all of which live together in this natural enclosure, including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhinos. Apart from the popular Big Five, you will see a multitude of other wild animals, from the pink flamingos of Lake Makat, to large herds of wildebeest, zebras, elands, and warthogs. Another big attraction in this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which includes hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, lions and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will also visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner of the crater, home to a large number of hippos and water birds.
After an event-filled afternoon, we will head back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 2
Ngorongoro Crater - Tarangire National Park
Activities: Travel to Tarangire National Park (3.5 hours) / Half-day game drive
Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner
Accommodation: Mid-range lodge
After an early breakfast at the lodge, we will hit the road in direction of Tarangire National Park.
This reserve runs along the Tarangire River and is made up of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. The park is defined by lush grasslands studded with giant baobab trees and sun-baked termite hills, and is a key staging ground of the annual Great Migration. Tourists who prefer to visit its more famous neighbours often ignore this lesser-known game reserve; yet during the dry season, it has a greater concentration of wildlife per square kilometre than any other park in Tanzania. The huge swamp areas in the south attract large numbers of animals such as zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes and giraffes, to name just a few. Moreover, the reserve is not only notorious for having some of the largest elephant herds in Africa, but also for being home to three very rare species that are almost impossible to find in other Tanzanian parks – the Oryx, the Elk and the Greater Kudu.
After an extensive afternoon game-drive, we will head to the lodge at sundown for dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 3
Tarangire National Park - Arusha or Moshi
Activities: Half-day game drive / Travel (2 hrs to Arusha or 4 hrs to Moshi)
Meals: Breakfast & lunch
After breakfast, we will embark on another half-day game drive in Tarangire National Park, exploring areas that we did not see previously.
We will have a late lunch in the park, after which we will head back to Arusha or Moshi.
